I Want To Know What Love Is.....
“I want to know
what love is…..” this was the song that came on my jazz station and I hummed
along. My humming soon turned into a prayer. God show me what love is. That
request, quickly turned into answers.
Love is
sacrificial….even to its own wants. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
Love is
obedient….even unto the point of death. (Philippians 2:8)
Love is patient…..giving
chance to make right decisions over & over, while we’re alive.
Love is
selfless…..placing others before it & taking no tally.
Love is pure…it
doesn’t desire for harm to come to anyone. (John 3:16)
Love is honoring…...regardless
of a title. (Romans 12:10, Romans 2:11)
Love is going to a
cross, the most disgraceful kind of death there was, to hang from it. To look
as you are mocked already having being beaten and still saying: ‘Father,
forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ God had already been and still
is showing what love is. So while we may think It should come in the form of a
human being, it will & it does as well, but let’s not forget to reciprocate
that love to God a.k.a our first love. We’ve gotten so comfortable in His love, that we sometimes don’t
reverence it like we should.
Prayer: Father,
forgive us for taking your love for granted, but thank you for revealing this
to us. For we know, those you love you correct. (Hebrews 12:6, Proverbs 3:12). Please
open our eyes to the most common things that we maybe more aware of you. In the
name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen!
