I know it was the LORD

Sometime within the last 2 years, visiting the state of Virginia has been on my heart to do. I honestly, don't get super deep when it comes to trips. I literally discuss the place that I have desire to travel to, with my travel companions, if any, and start looking into it.

Last December, I shared with my kids the 2 states I would like to visit and asked their travel destination desires and put the names in a box. Low and behold Virginia was one of the 2 states chosen. In January, I attended a "vision board" party and while looking through the magazines, Norfolk, VA was there, so I cut it out and added it to my board. I wasn't sure when it would happen, but I held on to hope.

Post Hurricane Helene, quite a bit of calendar events got cancelled due to all of the damage. I checked in with my brother in Virginia & a friend in Delaware and with their "ok's" I began my quest to find accommodations.

I found a reasonably priced hotel for my kids and I, but upon booking it I decided to see if I had enough points to book. Surprisingly I did and surprisingly the system allowed me to use my points to pay for the entire overnight stay. This might not be a big deal to some but hear me out. I have booked plenty trips with this particular company and every time before that I attempted to use even a fraction of my points, the system never allowed me.

The hotel was booked Wednesday night, and by Thursday morning, we were on the road to Virginia. Friday, we traveled west to visit my brother, then we headed north to spend a few days in Delaware. The only cost for this trip was for gas and a few days of food purchase. All in all, it was worth it to get away for a few days. My only piece of advice would be, if there were a place you would like to travel, & if you know people in that city/state, see if it would be feasible to lodge with them during your visit. Also, if you don't already, when you book future trips, the more you book with the same companies, the more opportunities you have to earn points.

And of course, the fun part of it all! We got to Unlock 2 new states: Virginia & Maryland & a 3rd for the kids: Delaware. Thanks for reading!
